Playing Video Games Can Improve Your Thinking Abilities
Saturday, September 15th, 2007There are so many people that believe playing video games actually decreases your intelligence level but I believe that playing some video games can actually improve your thinking abilities and increase your intelligence level. There are so many different video games that challenge your mind and put your brain to really good use. Playing certain video games like these gives your brain a chance to think in a way that it is not normally used to thinking. Like, quick thinking, in games like Tetris. As you play this video game, it gets faster and faster, your brain is having to work really hard to keep up with it. Many of us can not even remember where we parked when we leave a grocery store, using this part of the brain in such a way, as you do with some video games, will improve certain areas of the brain and will improve those thinking abilities that can help you in everyday life.
Video games come in all types, some are not very brainy, they just teach you how to kill things but there are many that do require logic thinking and put your brain to work having to come up with different difficult strategies in order to get through to the next level. I believe that if you allow your children and yourself to play these types of video games, you will notice a difference in some areas of your thinking throughout the day, over a period of time. Read over some of the video game reviews on the internet, many of these reviews can give you some insight on whether or not they are even worth the money, many of these reviews will also fill you in on other aspects of the video games that you are considering purchasing for yourself or someone that you love. Some people do not take the time out to review some of these types of video games, but it will really help you in deciding which ones would be more suitable for you and your family, so you should take the time out of your busy day to do so, it will be worth it.
With certain memory games, you are working areas of your brain muscles that are not typically used throughout the day, when you are performing just your same old boring tasks around the house or office. Having a great memory does not mean that you have a higher IQ, but it does mean that you are improving your thinking skills, your thinking abilities. Many of these memory video games will give you the opportunity to use that part of your brain and improve those areas that need it. It may be difficult for some people to believe this but if you are a critic, you should give it a try yourself, you might even be surprised by the results of playing a fun, sometimes tedious video game. If you do not currently own a video game such as the ones I have mentioned, you should go out today and purchase one or get online and download a free version, where you could hopefully improve some of your thinking abilities.
