Agricultural History

Kauai actually has a very rampant agricultural lifestyle. Early Polynesian explorers brought many unique plants and herbs that are still existent today. Several farmers and workers used to tend plantations and fields with products such as corn, sugarcane, coconut, rice and a variety of fruits and vegetables. The Faye Museum at Kaumualili Highway, Waimea is a single-room location at Waimea Plantation Cottages that contain exhibits and pictures of H.P. Faye, a pioneer sugar planter at West Kauai.

The Norwegian immigrant arrived in 1880 and began a small plantation at Mana which established Kakaha Sugar and Kokee Ditch Systems. Two more generations followed and continued to manage the plantation. You get to see the intricate drainage canals that serve the big swamps of Mana. Admission is free.

Grove Farm Museum at Lihue is that oldest intact sugar plantation in Hawaii. It was originally acquired by George Wilcox in 1864, the son of missionary educators. You will see some original structures and furnishings that were used from 1864 to 1978. Guided tours are available by reservation plus a $10 requested donation for adults and a $5 donation for children ages 5 to 12 years old.

Hoopulapula Haraguchi Mill is locatd at Hanalei at the north shore of Kauai. The Kauai museum is the lone rice mill left in Hawaii found inside a National Wildlife Refuge at Hanalei Valley. The place is usually not open to the public although you can occasionally have the opportunity to know more about Hawaii’s agriculture and cultural lifestyle dating back 130 years ago. You can also witness some rare wildlife species like native waterbirds and the various ways to grow and use taro, a Polynesian crop.

Kauai Children’s Discovery Museum is located at the Kauai Village Shopping Center in Kapa’a and is the ideal educational experience for kids and the entire family. West Kauai Technology & Visitor Center is at Kaumualili Highway, Waimea provides a modern approach to educating tourists about the many facets of the island and its people. I logged into several chat rooms to poll the chatters and get their insight into how the view the effects of self hypnosis on smoking. What I found was shocking considering all the positive news on the use of hypnosis to stop smoking.

When I polled the people I was able to discover was that women seemed to be more accepting than men on different approaches to stop a bad habit. While the majority of the women I polled leaned toward believing that hypnosis could help one to stop smoking, the women did not believe that self hypnosis would work. The majority of the women said that hypnosis would only in their opinion work if the person used a trained hypnotist.

Men on the other hand did not believe that hypnosis would work whether a hypnotist was used or not. Thus showing that men seemed to lean more toward traditional methods more so than women.

Most hypnotists that work with people who want to stop smoking boast a high success rate. This high success rate generates them more and more clients all the time that are seeking to stop smoking. So why then are these hypnotists able to flourish with such lack of doubt in their methods within the majority of the publics mind?

I polled more people to get a better understanding from the view point of people as to why with so much skeptics surrounding hypnosis and even self hypnosis are hypnotists still able to receive a large number of new and repeat clients.
Men and women both seemed to  view this from the same standing. What I learned was that in the mind’s of people this business is flourishing because despite skeptics people are willing to try anything to get what they want. As for repeat clients I learned that people view this happening because people for the most part believe that the more you do something eventually the result will differ.

As for self hypnosis the people that I polled believed that these people are desperate for results but don’t want to spend the money to achieve the results that they want. This desperation to stop smoking has them latching on to the notion that self hypnosis will help them to stop smoking.

So the end results of my research shows that women are more likely to believe that hypnosis works to stop smoking if the hypnosis is done with a hypnotist. While women are skeptic about self hypnosis working. Men on the other hand are skeptic about either form of hypnosis working.

The last results I gathered shows why hypnosis and self hypnosis is flourishing in society despite skeptics. In a nutshell is because as humans we will try anything that is offered to gain the results we are so desperately seeking.

Your blog can contain just about anything and everything that has to do with who you are and your journey through self hypnosis. Blog about who you were prior to using self hypnosis and why you chose to start using it. Share with your readers your struggles and successes as you made your way through to who you are today.

One way to liven up your blog and get people interested is to video tape one of your self hypnosis sessions and place it in your blog. This will show others how that particular self hypnosis session is done. They will see that while you are in a deeply relaxed trance you are still in control of all that you do and that goes on around you. It will also serve as a basis for you to track your progress as well.
